v3.136: New Editor in Groups, Create faster Wiki Pages, and more Possibilities in Group tables

Summer is gradually bringing more relaxed temperatures, and things at ChurchTools are also settling down after the last release and livestream. But taking a break is not on our minds. With version 3.136, you get even more options for managing groups, a more convenient Markdown editor, and a quicker way to create new Wiki pages. There are also practical improvements to the calendar, resources, finances, and reports. Here is an overview of the most important new features.

Markdown editor now available in groups

Note
The new editor will be enabled in the Groups’ module for all customers as soon as app version 0.79 is released. Otherwise, text might not be displayed correctly in the app.

Descriptions and comment fields in the Groups module now use the new Markdown editor. This lets you format text more clearly and mention people, groups, Wiki pages, or songs directly. For example, you can link important information for staff directly to the relevant content in ChurchTools.

Edit more directly in group tables

You now need to open individual groups less often to make changes. Custom group information and tags can be edited directly in the group table. Person tags can also be adjusted directly in a group’s member table. If you manage several groups, this can save you quite a few clicks.

Edit parent and subgroup groups together

In the table view of the group hierarchy, you can now select parent groups and subgroups together and edit them using bulk actions. Especially with larger group structures, this makes it easier to apply changes to multiple groups at once.

Add groups and members directly via URL

New groups and group members can now be created or added directly via a URL. With mychurch.church.tools/groups/new, you can open the form for creating a new group directly. With mychurch.church.tools/groups/ID/members/new, you can directly add members to a specific group. This is particularly useful if you want to link to these actions from other areas or external workflows.

More options for group homepages

Group homepages can now display their own title and description. By default, the group title and group description are used, but these can also be overridden. This lets you explain directly to visitors which groups they can find on the page or who the offering is intended for. ChurchTools also remembers your selected filters, search, map section, and scroll position when you open a group. When you return, you can continue right where you left off.

Create Wiki pages directly when selecting them

If the Wiki page you want to link to does not exist yet, you can now create it directly from the search in the page selection. ChurchTools automatically preselects the current Wiki category. This means you no longer have to leave your current workflow just to create a new page first.

Moderators can archive posts

Moderators can now archive any posts that are visible to them. This is useful, for example, when older or no longer relevant posts need to be cleaned up. The respective author is notified about the archiving via push notification or email.

Spot resource conflicts more quickly

Scheduling conflicts for resource bookings are now highlighted more clearly. For example, if a room or vehicle is already booked for an overlapping period, you can spot the conflict more quickly and respond accordingly.

Removal
With v3.132, we disabled the resource status “Deleted”. With this version, the old status has now been completely removed from ChurchTools.

Filter bank statements by date

A date filter is now available in the “Bank Statement” financial report. This allows you to limit the displayed transactions to the specific period you want to review or analyze.

New report on active app usage

There is a new AdHoc report called “People without active app usage”. This allows you to identify people who are currently not actively using the ChurchTools app – for example, if you want to encourage app usage in your church.

Further changes

If this is not enough for you, you will find all changes of this and earlier versions in our Changelog.
