v3.68: Event filter and API for absences 🎄

Release Navidad! Version 3.68 is our last release this year and is unusually small. But there are good reasons for that. ChurchTools Web will delight you with two main changes: a new event filter and new APIs for absences.

Event filter

In my church, we conduct worship services for which you have to register. In order to not exceed the allowed limit of people in the room, we obviously have to include the staff. In our case, we also add the staff to the registration group. This has always been a bit of a back and forth between the Events module and the Persons & Groups module.

With the new event filter this is now much easier. In More filters > Event filter, a period or an event can now be selected and the list of people is filtered. This way, one can quickly and reliably find all staff members of the service and add them to the group using the person function (batch function).

We even included a selection to distinguish between confirmations and cancellations.

The new event filter quickly shows all staff members of a service or in a time period.

Absences (REST API)

The second change worth mentioning is the new interface for absences. With version 3.68 we bring CRUD endpoints for developers to better handle absences. So you can view, enter, change and delete the absence for a person.

And where is the rest?

That’s really it for this version. We have of course fixed a few more bugs, but there is not much more to report for the web version of ChurchTools. Why? We have been working a lot on the app lately and there are many new things to discover there. But more about that in another blog post.
