Posted by Autumn brings not only shorter days but also some new possibilities in the ChurchTools app. This update includes more options for appointment descriptions and customizable notifications related to services. There are also practical improvements to posts, push notifications, and many smaller details throughout the app.
Set chat history visibility for new group members
In group chats, you can now choose how far back new members can see the chat history. This setting was already available on the web and can now also be adjusted conveniently in the app. This gives you more control over which older messages are visible to newly added members.
More options for appointment descriptions
Appointment descriptions now support text formatting. Among other things, you can mention people, groups, songs, and wiki pages, and use formatting to make important information clearer and easier to read.

Moderators can archive posts
Post moderators can now also archive other people’s posts. “My posts” then shows which moderator archived each post, making it clear who made the change.
Customize your service notifications
You can now customize notifications for service requests, service cancellations, and similar changes. This gives you more control over which activities you want to be notified about.
Also new: once you have accepted a service request, the app now sends you a push notification the day before the event. This gives you a timely reminder of your upcoming assignment.
Send a test push notification to all connected devices
You can now send test push notifications from both the support section and the notification settings. The test message is sent to all devices connected to your account. This makes it easier to check whether push notifications are reaching your devices correctly.
New features explained right in the app
A new pop-up highlights the expanded options for text formatting and linking. It shows you right in the app which new options are available and how to use them.
Group meeting points in their chosen colors
Group meeting point icons now appear in their configured colors. This creates a more consistent appearance and helps you identify different meeting points more quickly.
Error messages are easier to identify
Error messages that you can tap now include an additional information icon. This makes it easier to see that you can open the message to get more information about the error.
iOS 16.4 is now required
Starting with this update, the ChurchTools app requires at least iOS 16.4 on iPhone and iPad. If you are using an older version of iOS, check whether a suitable system update is available for your device.
