v3.113: Schedule posts, split transactions, plan registrations

Translations: Deutsch (Deutschland)

The south of Germany has now also left the summer vacations behind and we are noticing that life is gradually returning to our company too. Even though things have been quieter over the last few months, the developers have been hard at work. Normally, a new version would have been released in August, but due to the vacation period, we decided to skip the release and now bring out a double version in September, which, as you can see from the changelog, is quite full. So let’s jump in head first.

Plan and archive posts

Regardless of whether you work full-time or on a voluntary basis in your church: it often happens that you want to publish an article in ChurchTools, but not right away. With ChurchTools v3.113, it is possible to schedule posts for publication and also for archiving. You decide how long a post will be visible.

Registration start and deadline

Group registrations are a great function and it is not without reason that many of you use them. Whether it’s the digital contact card or the large summer camp registration: every registration is unique. To make it even easier for you to plan things, you can now control registration even better with a registration start date and a registration deadline. This means that registration is only open during the period you have selected.

Improvements to automatic memberships

Automatic memberships are an incredibly powerful tool. If you are not yet familiar with this function, I recommend this playlist on YouTube (in German).

With v3.113 we have made some improvements:

  • Filters can also be negated and ignored.
  • The standard filter “Archived is no” is better explained with a term description.
  • Empty values can no longer be saved in the filter.
  • Roles are shown in connection with the group to make assignment easier.
  • There are additional operators for date fields, such as “equal to or greater than”.

Own group membership

The community is growing and so is the number of groups. It’s not always easy to keep track of which groups you are in and what status you have. That’s why your own group memberships are now displayed more clearly in the group list. This means you don’t have to navigate to the group unnecessarily in order to recognize your own status.

QR code for the public group page

As soon as a group is public, the public page of this group is also available. But what good is that if no one can find the group? 😢
A QR code can now be generated and downloaded directly in the settings for a public group. You can use this image file to print it on a flyer, for example. 🤗

Metadata in the context menu for groups

Yes, admittedly, this change doesn’t seem worth mentioning at first glance, but sometimes it’s exactly these small changes that make life so much easier. 😉
In the group module, you will now also find the corresponding context menu (3-dot menu) for each group card. Here you will now also find the ID, date of the last change and the name of the person. This can be a small but useful improvement for people who keep our digital hodgepodge in order.

Songbooks (sources) for songs

With song tags and categories, there are already two functions for organizing songs. But one level has been missing until now: sources. ♨️

An arrangement can now be assigned to a source (e.g. a songbook). You can filter this source and optionally display it in the schedule.

Finances: Split transactions

Dear cashiers, watch out: the split transactions are here. 🙌

In ChurchTools Finance, a new posting can be split in order to enter a posting more quickly and coherently. Previously, it was necessary to create a separate entry for each split entry. This had some disadvantages. Now it is possible for you to split transactions.

Create new donors

Anyone who works a lot with account statements or the simple transaction screen will be delighted with this change: Now you can create new donors directly and no longer have to take the cumbersome detour via the people module.

Further changes

If this is not enough for you, you will find all changes of this and earlier versions in our Changelog.

We hope you like the new version as much as we do. As always, you may leave praise and constructive feedback in our forum.
