Additionally, we’ve reworked and enhanced the person filters so that you can now search every person field. With the new version, it’s also possible to save the same email address multiple times.
Sync Module
Finally it is here, the new Sync module. After a long time of work it finally sees the light of day. But what can it do and why is it so great?
A recent customer survey showed that our customers love the fact that ChurchTools brings everything together in one place. A well-maintained list of people in particular is worth its weight in gold for your church work. But there are scenarios where information needs to be processed in other places. For example, for some churches it is necessary to synchronize lists of persons between ChurchTools and Optigem or, for example, for state churches with DaviP.
For a long time we had a small Windows program called ChurchDBSync, which is now being replaced piece by piece by the Sync module.
Synchronize person data
With this release it will be possible for you to synchronize personal data with Optigem or another ChurchTools installation and data from DaviP into your ChurchTools. How and what is synchronized is adjustable in detail. So every action, if a new person should be created or deleted or updated etc., can be planned and there will be no nasty surprises.
With a sophisticated field mapping that determines which fields of your system are synchronized with which fields of the foreign system, no wish is left unsatisfied and with additional filter conditions you have full control.
Want an example? Church associations can use Sync to easily collect and manage all the information of their full-time staff in an association installation. If a pastor’s phone number or address changes, the data is always up-to-date at the association as well.
Outlook
Of course, we are not stopping here. We see great potential in Sync and will continue to enhance it. Other data types, such as financial data, are already in the pipeline.
Person filter
A central list of persons saves a lot of work when searching for information. The person filters are a great help in the daily work. For example, you can quickly find out all members without a profile picture and ask them to upload a picture so that the new pastor can better learn the member names with a face.
But the person filter sometimes did not support all fields. Some people fields, including custom DB fields, you could not filter until now. With version 3.78 you can now exactly do that.
Deposit same e-mail
It is not uncommon that one person has several e-mail addresses. For some time now, you have been able to enter all of them in ChurchTools. But to enter the same e-mail address several times was not possible. From now on ChurchTools is a bit more relaxed. Now, for example, the same address can be stored both as a private and as a business e-mail, if necessary.
