v3.77: Security notice: Your email changed

Translations: Deutsch (Deutschland)

Germany’s summer break is still running and the scope of the new version is reflecting this. But don’t worry, event now we have some new updates we want to share with you. Firstly, we improved account security when an eMail addresses is changed and secondly we removed a widget from the dashboard.

Security Notice: eMail address changed

In version 3.77 we added a new security notice. When an eMail address is changed, we now send a notice to the old and the new eMail address. This increases the security for ChurchTools users, because they can immediately take action if something suspicious is going on.

When an eMail address is changed, the user will be informed immediately.

“Who is Online”-Widget removed

ChurchTools’ dashboard used to display a widget (if permission was given), that showed who is online right now. We removed this widget from the ChurchTools dashboard. We contemplated a lot if we should keep it, but decided against it, because of its heavy impact on the sites’ performance. The widget created a lot of work for our servers, and slowed things down for all ChurchTools users. So, to keep our system save and also to improve performance for you, we decided to remove it.

But don’t worry, there is an alternative. You can navigate to the logs (Manage > View Logs > Statistics) and take a look at the statistics to see, who is actively using ChurchTools.

Announcement

Starting with version 0.25.0 does the ChurchTools app require Android 6.0 or higher and iOS devices need to run on iOS 13 or higher. Old app versions are still running on older devices, but will not receive updates in the future. Less than 1% of our users are affected by this change. This step is necessary to efficiently manage our limited resources. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Further changes

On top of that, you will find all changes of this and earlier versions in our Changelog.

We hope you like the new version as much as we do. As always, you may leave positive and constructive feedback in our forum.
