Posted by Early fall has arrived and I am enjoying the sunflowers that adorned the fields and last Sunday our worship hall 🌻. But besides the beautiful flowers, I’m also especially excited about the new ChurchTools release. Version 3.101 brings the long-awaited new Groups module to open beta, changes to the public groups page, calendar, finance and … heck, every module really. Because the update brings a lot with it. Not everything I can go into detail here.
Group module: Open Beta starts 🎉
The new group module enters beta. At the beginning of the year, we gave you a preview of 2023 (only in German). There we announced that we are working on a new group module. We’ve done a lot of tinkering, conceptualizing and programming so that the new module will improve your everyday church life. Now the open beta phase starts. That means you can activate the new module (in the System Settings > Modules) and give permissions for individual or all users in the rights management. We are looking forward to your feedback!
Public group page: Show street
For public groups you can now set whether the street of the meeting point should be displayed or not. (By default it is not displayed).
Calendar: Find “today” faster
Past appointments are now displayed in graded colors to increase clarity. This means that all past dates are now displayed in a slightly transparent color. So you can find today’s date even faster.
Adjustment in automatic schedule line for services
In the automatic classification, the locations are now also displayed with the groups. This small addition is especially interesting for churches with multiple locations to find the right team faster.
Finance: Document number for reversal postings
Reversal postings now automatically have a “-Storno” suffix added to the document number to identify them more clearly. The document number of the reversing booking is used for this and extended with the suffix “-Reversal”. This makes it immediately clear to you that this is a reversal posting and that these two postings belong together.
Finance: Waiver of reimbursement of expenses
You can now indicate the waiver of reimbursement of expenses in donation entries. If an entry is marked as such, this information will be printed accordingly in the donation receipt.
Finance: Automatically increment booking number
Proper accounting requires that postings can be clearly assigned. The document number is an important date for an entry. Many cashiers use sequential booking numbers for this purpose. Since these are, as the name implies, consecutive, the next voucher number is basically already known. With version 3.101 you can now automatically increment transaction numbers. You can activate the incrementing separately for each posting year in the master data.
